“The Indian copper industry is adopting newer technologies, widening product mix and trying to improve quality and yield in order to meet the challenges the industry is facing”, told Mr. B. K. Binani, Managing Director, Rashtriya Metal Industries Ltd. & Chairman, Board of Management, ICDC, in his Presidential Address during the Opening Session of ICDC Copper Conference 2024 organised by Indian Copper Development Centre (ICDC) in Mumbai on 22nd February, 2024. He highlighted the wide range of services being provided by the Centre during its existence for about six decades. He requested the participants to become member of ICDC which will give them access to the wealth of resources, expertise and networking opportunities.

 

Mr. Arun Kumar Shukla, Chairman and Managing Director, Hindustan Copper Limited delivered the inaugural address. The inaugural session of the Conference was presided over by Mr. B. K. Binani, Managing Director, Rashtriya Metal Industries Ltd. and Chairman, Board of Management of ICDC..

 

The Keynote Address “Quality is the Key for Success, Survival and Growth” was delivered by Mr. Shreegopal Kabra, Managing Director, RR Kabel Ltd. & Member, Board of Management of ICDC. During his address he emphasized that Brand building is of utmost importance for any industry. He mentioned that to achieve sustainability and growth, product quality must get priority.

 

The Opening Session concluded with the Vote of Thanks proposed by Dr. D. De Sarkar, CEO, ICDC.

 

During the Conference there were two very interesting Technical Sessions. Following presentations were made during the First Technical Session of the Conference which was Chaired by Mr. D. K. Jain, Member, Board of Management, ICDC, and I. Mukherjee, Technical Manager, ICDC, assisted him.

The two technical sessions evoked a lot of interest among the participants. They raised various questions which were answered by the speakers.


The conference was attended by representatives of primary copper producers, downstream product manufacturers, end users of copper based products, equipment manufacturers, standards organization, and relevant associations.
