So delivering reliable and good quality product in a healthy competitive market is of utmost importance” remarked Mrs. NeelamBhogal, General Manager, SCR (Engg. & MM) Division, BHEL, Bhopal, in her inaugural address during the Inaugural Session of the Seminar on “Copper Based Components in Switchgear Industry” organized by Indian Copper Development Centre (ICDC) in Mumbai on 21st February, 2019.

 

Mr. U. K. Jatia, Managing Director, Indoswe Engineers Ltd., Pune, welcomed the participants. He mentioned that he has been associated with ICDC for more than four decades and highlighted the various roles played by ICDC for the last 53 years for the benefit of copper and copper alloy industry in the country.

 

Dr. P. Sriram, Chairman, Rapsri Engineering Products Co. Ltd., Ramnagar, Karnataka, delivered his Keynote Address on “Copper Materials in Switchgear (Safety, Reliability and Flexibility in an Electrical System)”. He discussed about the various copper based products and their properties for usage in the switchgear industry.

 

The Inaugural Session concluded with the Vote of Thanks proposed by Mr. I. Mukherjee, Metallurgist, ICDC.

The two technical sessions were chaired by Mr. Anil Kapoor, Technical Service Cell, Hindalco Industries Ltd. (Unit : Birla Copper), Dahej and Dr. D. De Sarkar, Chief Executive Officer, ICDC, respectively. The discussion sessions were extremely lively when the authors answered various questions raised by the audience.


The seminar was attended by more than 60 participants. They included representatives from switchgear equipment manufacturers; conductor manufacturers; contact manufacturers; extruded, rolled & cast product manufacturers; primary copper producers; equipment manufacturers, etc.
